Jeff Hinshaw is the founder of Cosmic Cousins: Soul-Centered Astrology and has made several contributions to the world of astrology.
Exploring the intersection of astrology and spirituality, Jeff teaches the ways in which astrology can be used as a tool for self-discovery, embodied health, and deeper learning. He discusses the connections between astrology and other esoteric practices, such as tarot, psychology, meditation, and yoga.
Through his podcast, substack, newsletter and instagram, Jeff has shared his knowledge of astrology for nearly a decade, making it accessible to a wider audience. He has covered various topics, from the basics of astrology to more advanced concepts.
Connecting with the community through social media and organizing events such as meetups and workshops, Jeff has facilitated many collaborative projects and conversations, such as: Zodiac Queens, Zodiac Emoji, the Brooklyn Fools Tarot Journey, and more! He is also the creator of the Cosmic Cousins: Astro Oracle – a 81–card deck exploring Esoteric Astrological concepts.
Some of Jeff’s deepest areas of interests, in which he has participated in extensive study and research, is connected to the Planetoids, including: Chiron, Eris, Black Moon Lilith, and the Asteroids. Jeff is captivated by these placements because they offer much needed vocabulary for incorporating more feminine, queer and gender-expansive archetypes into the astrological conversation.
Jeff is a vocal advocate for promoting inclusivity and diversity in the astrology community. He uses his platform to highlight and uplift the work of other LGBTQ+, BIPOC and Feminist astrologers, activists, artists and healers from diverse backgrounds.
Jeff’s other areas of interest include: Astrocartography, New & Full Moon Ritual, the psychology of the Chakra System, Astrology & the Body, Somatic Healing, the philosophy of the Fool’s Journey in the Tarot, spoken word poetry, queer theory, feminism, social justice, photography, the galatic center and more.
Jeff works one-on-one with students and clients, for both deep-dive astrology readings and long-term mentorships. In addition to his work with Cosmic Cousins, Jeff published a book through Sterling Publishing – Aries. He has also been known to lead lectures at conferences and is also a member of his teacher Heidi Rose Robbins’ astrology team Luminosity where he contributes monthly workshops on Tarot & Astrology. He has helped assist Heidi’s bi-annual Radiant Life retreats for the past two years in Ojai, California.
Jeff has a BA in Psychology and a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina Wilington. He also completed a 8-day Certification Program in Psychology of the Chakra System with Anodea Judith at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, as well as completed two 200-Hour Yoga Teacher trainings. In his twenties when living in New York City, Jeff taught restorative yoga and ran a dog-walking company. Now, in his 30s, Jeff is based out of Los Angeles, California and focuses his full-time efforts and love on astrology.
